The film
The places we live in shape our relationship to history.
Julia Hervieux, an Innu interior designer from Pessamit, sets out to meet architects, designers and artisans who design places that carry culture and identity.
Les Couleurs du passé explores the philosophy of Indigenous architecture: what it means and how it takes shape in today’s spaces. The documentary looks at the impact of this architecture on community life. It shows how, for First Peoples, architecture and design become levers of cultural affirmation and tools for reclaiming the land.
